You often hear people call life a game… and I think that’s a very apt name for it. What most people seem to fail to realize is who the coach is, who the teams are, and… (best part of all) what the end score is.
I believe God is the coach. The training program is the Book of Mormon and the Bible, the play book is the Plan of Salvation, and the teams are His children (which is all of us!) and Satan. The end score is that we, through the power and grace of God and Jesus Christ, are the winners.
Many people are aware of the “last days” and if you look at the world, and society, and the quality of life around us, you can see very plainly that this is a true statement. What I love most about this “game” is that, although there is still a lot of unknown factors and curve balls coming our way, we can take comfort in the fact that the Alpha and Omega has it under control. Yes, there will be innings/quarters/rounds/battles, etc. that are unfortunately won by the Adversary, but what is so amazing is that God had the game in His pocket before we even started playing.
Heavenly Father desires all of us to win, and in order to secure that success and that victory, He picked an MVP who would score that final, and ultimate winning point. That player is Jesus Christ. His atoning sacrifice is what sealed the victory. All we have to do is do our best to follow Him, obey God’s commandments (or, if it helps you put this in perspective: plays, game rules, etc. whatever word works for you!), be baptized (stay clean and take care to stay close to God so you can get the next play in the game plan), go to church (team practice), and endure to the end (push yourself beyond your self imposed limitations) and become more like Christ each step of the way.
I know this is all possible. Like I said, God has made a “game plan” that includes and He has made note of every single thing that could go right or wrong. We need not fear. There is a scripture that says:
30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.
I know we will win this game. I know the Plan of Salvation is the “game plan” and that Jesus Christ is that MVP who will get us into the winners circle of God’s Kingdom.
I know this is true and I just want you all to know that God loves you. Ask Him for help to get through your “miracle mile” so you can endure to the end.
I leave this with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
